It is amazing what paint can do. Though the school building in Pixabaj is fully functional, it was not until a team from Church of The Good Shepherd from Southern Mississippi came and painted it that people began to call it beautiful. The team consisted of 16 adults, one young-adult and one child, and they spent the week working hard to bless Pixabaj with a freshly painted building. In addition to painting, the team was also able to finish mixing and pouring concrete in the last two rooms of the second floor and finish making and hanging the curtains for the second story. What made the their time in Pixabaj special however, was not just the work they did for Pixabaj, but also the work the Lord did in them. The team began every morning with worship and devotional, which they carried with them for the rest of the day, whether working on the building, playing with the kids, or fellowshipping with one another. It is both encouraging and convicting to work alongside such a group that possesses such a terrific attitude while serving the Lord wherever they felt they were needed. Their work and sacrifice is made even more special in knowing that despite the fairly recent tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, which directly affected the area where the team came from, they have continued to come and serve in Pixabaj, Guatemala.
